Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle bookkeeping process, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory accounts to HMRC in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
- Process invoices, ensure accurate coding, and resolve any discrepancies with vendors or clients.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Assist with audits and provide requested documentation to external accountants.
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance role within the UK.
- AAT qualification or equivalent (ACCA/CIMA part-qualified desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups) and strong data analysis abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
