Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll records
- Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis for executive review
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and investment portfolios monthly
- Manage sales tax filings and compliance reporting across multiple jurisdictions
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes with audit support
- Implement and optimize accounting workflows using QuickBooks Online
- Collaborate with CPAs and tax professionals during quarterly reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience in mid-sized companies
- Expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and accounting software
- Deep understanding of GAAP principles and Illinois tax regulations
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll processing
- Certification in QuickBooks Online (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills
