Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including AP/AR, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) with variance analysis
- Maintain compliance with federal/state tax regulations and ensure audit readiness
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes and implement efficiency improvements
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and expense management initiatives
- Lead month-end/year-end closing processes and support external audits
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff on financial systems and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Deep knowledge of GAAP principles and Virginia tax regulations
- Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification preferred
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll and sales tax filings
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to reconcile complex accounts
- Strong analytical skills and ability to present financial insights clearly
