Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for 25+ client portfolios using Xero and QuickBooks
- Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and KPI reporting
- Lead VAT returns, payroll processing, and HMRC compliance submissions
- Oversee bank reconciliations, credit control, and cash flow forecasting
- Implement process improvements using automation tools (Zapier/Power Automate)
- Mentor junior bookkeepers and conduct quarterly financial health reviews
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors for seamless compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' UK bookkeeping experience with SMEs
- AAT Level 4 or equivalent accounting qualification essential
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel (VLOOKUP/Pivot Tables)
- Proven HMRC compliance and VAT return expertise
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP and FRS102 standards
- Experience with payroll systems (BrightPay/Bureautask)
- Certification in Xero or QuickBooks preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail with 100% accuracy in financial reporting
