Responsibilities
- Month-End & Year-End Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
- VAT & Tax Compliance: Handle VAT returns, tax computations, and ensure full compliance with UK tax legislation.
- Bookkeeping: Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, and reconcile bank statements.
- Payroll Support: Assist in the preparation of payroll data and ensure all statutory payments are processed correctly.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and implement efficient accounting systems.
- Compliance & Audits: Assist external auditors and ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
Qualifications
- Qualifications: Fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or part-qualified (AAT Level 4) accountant with substantial experience.
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar accounting role within the UK financial sector.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK GAAP and tax laws.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies and errors.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and team members.
- Integrity: High level of professional integrity and confidentiality.
