Responsibilities
- Manage General Ledger: Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) for management review.
- Compliance & Tax: Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations; assist in the preparation of annual tax returns and supporting schedules.
- Reconciliation: Perform detailed bank reconciliations and account variance analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Process Improvement: Streamline accounting processes and implement internal controls to enhance operational efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support.
- Payroll Oversight: Assist in the monthly payroll process, verifying hours and ensuring accurate compensation calculations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a remote or hybrid environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage accounting software; advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Certification: CPA license or active pursuit thereof is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines in a remote setting.
