Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS standards
- Lead complex month-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations for multi-currency accounts
- Manage and optimize accounts payable/receivable workflows to improve cash flow efficiency
- Conduct variance analysis between budgeted and actual financial results, providing actionable insights
- Oversee VAT compliance submissions and assist with corporation tax preparations
- Develop and maintain robust financial controls to ensure audit readiness
- Mentor junior accounting staff while maintaining adherence to SOX compliance requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience in public practice or corporate environment
- Expert knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and HMRC regulations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle)
- Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage accounting software
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights
- Proven track record of process improvement and automation in accounting workflows
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to manage competing priorities
