Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Manage the full-cycle payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy in pay rates, hours worked, deductions, and bonuses.
- Compliance & Tax: Prepare and file accurate payroll tax returns (W-2s, 1099s) and ensure timely payments to federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries regarding paychecks or deductions with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date payroll records, ensuring data integrity within our HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday).
- Benefits Administration: Collaborate with the benefits team to ensure accurate deduction of health insurance, 401k, and other voluntary benefits.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze payroll reports for management, providing insights into labor costs and staffing metrics.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in payroll processing, accounting, or a related financial role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or Workday) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of federal and state payroll tax laws, FLSA regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to perform complex calculations with zero errors and maintain rigorous data accuracy.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex payroll information clearly to non-financial staff.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or HR is preferred; CPA or Payroll Certification (e.g., ASP) is a plus.
