Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle payroll process (weekly/bi-weekly) to ensure accuracy and timeliness for all employees.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including FLSA and DC-specific tax laws.
- Process payroll adjustments, garnishments, and various deductions accurately within system deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with the Human Resources department to update personnel records, process new hires, and manage terminations affecting payroll.
- Prepare and review payroll reports, variance analysis, and reconciliation statements for management.
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding pay, tax forms (W-2, W-4), and compensation.
- Maintain accurate documentation for internal and external audits.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll processing, preferably within a corporate or professional services environment.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, or similar HRIS/Payroll software platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of FLSA regulations, payroll tax codes, and state-specific filing requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive employee data with the highest level of discretion.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred; high school diploma required.
