Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and posted.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, verify vendor data, and manage incoming payments with a high degree of accuracy.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure bank statements match internal records.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit & loss and balance sheets, to assist management in decision-making.
- Payroll Support: Assist in processing payroll and managing payroll tax filings (if applicable).
- Compliance: Ensure all financial activities are compliant with local and federal regulations.
- Record Keeping: Organize and maintain physical and digital financial records for audit purposes.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of professional bookkeeping experience.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in QuickBooks Online or Xero; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) are mandatory.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in data entry and reporting.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a part-time capacity.
- Location: Must be willing to work from our Washington, DC office (Hybrid options available).
