Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping Management: Oversee daily bookkeeping tasks, including managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and credit card statements to ensure all transactions are accurate and up-to-date.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.
- Payroll Support: Process and verify payroll for a small team of employees, ensuring all deductions and taxes are calculated correctly.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales tax filings.
- Compliance: Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
- Software Administration: Maintain and update accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) to reflect current business activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in a part-time or freelance capacity.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Pro/Online, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, primarily during standard business hours (Monday - Friday).
