Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping operations, including sales and purchase ledgers.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit cards to ensure data accuracy.
- Process weekly payroll and ensure all statutory deductions are calculated correctly.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other tax filings on time.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly management accounts.
- Assist with the audit process and respond to queries from HMRC or clients.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies immediately.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Bookkeeper or Assistant Accountant.
- Relevant accounting qualification (AAT Level 4 or ACCA/CIMA part-qualified).
- Strong proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage accounting software.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) is essential.
- Solid understanding of UK tax legislation, including VAT and PAYE.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to spot errors quickly.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
