Responsibilities
- Manage Daily Bookkeeping: Process invoices, manage expenses, and ensure accurate data entry into our accounting software (Xero/Sage).
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts on a weekly basis to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare VAT Returns: Calculate and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC in compliance with UK regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of trial balances, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets for clients.
- Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding their financial queries and account status.
- Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing and ensuring accurate tax deductions are applied.
Qualifications
- Qualifications: AAT Level 3 or higher (ACCA/CIMA qualified is a plus).
- Experience: Proven experience in bookkeeping within a UK-based practice or commercial environment.
- Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK tax legislation, IR35 rules, and HMRC compliance requirements.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
