Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient demographics and insurance information for accuracy before claim submission.
- Process and submit medical claims to various insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) electronically.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeals to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Reconcile daily bank deposits and patient payments.
- Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends or discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding outstanding balances and billing inquiries.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal financial policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or accounts receivable.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and payer rules.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage high volumes of work under tight deadlines.
