Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (CMS-1500 and electronic).
- Analyze accounts receivable (AR) aging reports to identify delinquent accounts and implement resolution strategies.
- Communicate professionally with patients, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and capture accurate demographic information prior to service delivery.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal billing policies.
- Collaborate with medical coders and practice managers to resolve denied claims and appeals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in the company database.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or AthenaHealth experience is a plus).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and billing software (e.g., Athena, Practice Fusion).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
