Responsibilities
- Verify and accurately code patient insurance information and medical records using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance carriers and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid).
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding claims, and resolve denials efficiently.
- Communicate with patients and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries, payment plans, and account status.
- Reconcile daily deposits and post payments to patient accounts with high attention to detail.
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and internal billing policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT coding, and billing guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex billing issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
