As a Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in our revenue cycle management, ensuring that claims are processed accurately and payments are collected in a timely manner. You will collaborate with our clinical and administrative teams to resolve complex billing issues and optimize our financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records, insurance cards, and charge sheets to ensure accuracy before claims submission.
- Submit and track claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Monitor accounts receivable and identify outstanding balances to initiate collection efforts.
- Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims by contacting payers and providers for clarification.
- Prepare and post patient payments, adjustments, and credits accurately within the billing software.
- Assist in the monthly financial reconciliation and generate billing reports for management review.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and company billing policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or Cerner.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
