Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Review, verify, and submit medical insurance claims (CMS-1500, UB-04) with a focus on minimizing denials and maximizing reimbursement.
- Denial Analysis: Analyze rejected claims, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future errors.
- Patient Billing: Generate accurate patient invoices and statements, and manage patient payment plans and inquiries professionally.
- Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all billing activities adhere to HIPAA regulations, payer guidelines, and internal compliance protocols.
- System Maintenance: Maintain and update patient accounts and insurance information within our EHR (Electronic Health Record) and billing software.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on billing status, accounts receivable aging, and revenue cycle performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Accounting is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, medical coding, or revenue cycle management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and billing software (Eclaims, Practice Fusion).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, HCPCS, and Medicare/Medicaid policies.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex billing issues clearly to patients and staff.
