Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Process payroll transactions and ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.
- Perform general ledger entries and assist in the preparation of tax returns and financial audits.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in general accounting or bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel (Advanced functions required).
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and local Virginia tax regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
