The Role:
The Weekend Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the closing of monthly financial periods, reconciling bank accounts, and ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and timely. You will act as the primary financial steward for our weekend operations, working closely with our full-time staff to maintain seamless financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform weekly general ledger entries and monthly bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions to ensure timely vendor payments and accurate revenue recognition.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings and internal audits.
- Ensure strict compliance with GAAP accounting standards and internal control procedures.
- Maintain and organize financial records, ledgers, and spreadsheets using advanced Excel functions.
- Collaborate with the operations team to resolve any discrepancies or financial issues arising during weekend shifts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience, preferably with a focus on weekend shifts or month-end close processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision during weekend hours.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Associate in Accounting (AAS) designation is a plus.
