Responsibilities
- Prepare and Review Tax Returns: Accurately prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns for a diverse client base in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Tax Planning & Compliance: Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and ensure full compliance with Hawaii General Excise Tax (GET) laws.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding tax inquiries, providing clear and professional guidance on complex tax issues.
- Financial Analysis: Perform detailed financial analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts to support accurate reporting.
- Research & Strategy: Conduct in-depth tax research on new tax laws and regulations to advise clients on strategic financial decisions.
- File Maintenance: Maintain organized and secure electronic and physical filing systems for all client tax documents and correspondence.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree (CPA/EA preferred) is a major plus.
- Experience: 2-5 years of progressive experience in tax preparation, accounting, or auditing.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, Drake, Lacerte) and general accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients effectively.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP, IRS regulations, and Hawaii state tax codes.
