Responsibilities
- Prepare Tax Returns: Accurately prepare and file individual income tax returns (Form 1040) and basic business returns (Form 1120) using industry-standard tax software.
- Client Communication: Interact directly with clients to gather necessary documentation, answer tax-related questions, and explain complex tax concepts in simple terms.
- Data Entry & Analysis: Review financial statements, W-2s, 1099s, and receipts to ensure data accuracy and identify potential deductions.
- Compliance & Research: Stay updated on current tax codes and regulations to ensure all filings meet IRS compliance standards.
- File Management: Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for client records and tax documents.
- Seasonal Support: Assist in high-volume periods by managing workflow efficiently and meeting tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is a strong plus.
- Math Skills: Strong aptitude for numbers, basic arithmetic, and attention to detail.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency (typing, Microsoft Office) and willingness to learn tax preparation software (e.g., Driven, Lacerte, ProSeries).
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly during peak tax season (January–April).
