Join our dynamic finance team as a Senior Payroll Specialist in Chicago's vibrant Loop district! We're seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage end-to-end payroll processing for 500+ employees across 15 states. Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for multi-state employees using ADP Workforce Now
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations (FLSA, FLSA, local ordinances)
- Manage garnishments, deductions, and tax filings for 401(k) and HSA contributions
- Conduct payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies with HR and accounting departments
- Generate payroll reports for CFO and HR leadership using Excel and Power BI
- Train payroll staff on new tax laws and system updates
- Act as primary payroll contact for employee inquiries and issue resolution
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience
- Advanced proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables)
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred
- Deep knowledge of federal/state tax laws (FICA, FUTA, SUI) and wage-hour regulations
- Experience with garnishment processing and compliance reporting
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail in high-volume environments
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder collaboration
