We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team in Chicago, Illinois. Responsibilities

  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and credit card statements.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with high accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures efficiently and accurately.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure data integrity across all financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional bookkeeping experience in a corporate or accounting firm setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional certification).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online and Xero.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and macros).
  • Deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex data to non-finance stakeholders.
