Responsibilities
- Benefits Administration: Manage the full lifecycle of employee benefits, including health insurance, dental, vision, 401(k), and supplemental plans.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to ERISA, ACA (Affordable Care Act), and state-specific regulations; prepare and file annual reports.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct monthly and annual analyses of benefit costs to identify trends and recommend strategies for cost containment.
- Vendor Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party administrators (TPAs) and insurance carriers to resolve inquiries and ensure smooth operations.
- Data Integrity: Reconcile benefit invoices, payroll deductions, and contributions to ensure 100% accuracy in general ledger entries.
- Employee Support: Assist HR staff and employees with benefits questions, open enrollment processes, and changes in status.
- Process Improvement: Streamline benefits workflows and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field required; CPA or CBP (Certified Benefits Professional) certification is a major plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, or a similar accounting role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) or benefits administration software.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA compliance requirements.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to manage large volumes of data with high precision and spot discrepancies.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
