Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly and annual financial closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and analyze complex financial statements, variance reports, and budgeting projections.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany accounts.
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and local D.C. financial laws.
- Assist in external audits and internal controls implementation to mitigate financial risk.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) initiatives.
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff on best practices and software usage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification is a strong plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting or public accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
