Responsibilities
- Manage General Ledger: Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations, credit card statements, and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
- Payroll Oversight: Assist in the monthly payroll process, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to prepare reports for management, highlighting variances and trends to support decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all federal, state, and local legal requirements regarding financial reporting and tax filings.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the accounting department and implement effective solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups).
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies in financial data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance staff.
- Integrity: High level of professional ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Availability: Ability to meet weekly payroll deadlines and work effectively during peak periods.
