Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze complex financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and state-specific Virginia tax laws
- Lead audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
- Develop and implement financial controls to mitigate risk
- Mentor junior accounting staff and process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic financial initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public or corporate finance
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software (e.g., Sage)
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and Virginia-specific compliance requirements
- Proven experience managing full accounting cycles and financial reporting
