Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including vendor invoicing and approvals, and oversee accounts receivable collections and aging reports.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring timely submission and maximizing available deductions.
- Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements for financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices for greater efficiency.
- Financial Analysis: Provide actionable insights to management regarding budget variances and cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree (MBA) or CPA certification is a strong plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within a remote or hybrid environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines during month-end close.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and ERP systems.
- Integrity: High level of accuracy and a commitment to ethical financial practices.
