Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze complex financial statements for nonprofit and government entities
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and federal regulations
- Oversee grant accounting and restricted fund allocations
- Lead budget forecasting and variance analysis for multiple clients
- Implement process improvements using accounting software solutions
- Mentor junior accounting staff on technical procedures
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/Master's preferred)
- 5+ years public accounting or nonprofit accounting experience
- Expert knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (FASB 117, 136)
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or similar accounting platforms
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros)
- Experience with federal grant compliance and reporting
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
