Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict accordance with GAAP standards.
- General Ledger: Manage the general ledger, ensure accurate journal entries, and perform month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee the AP and AR functions, including processing invoices, managing vendor relations, and collecting outstanding receivables.
- Reconciliation: Perform complex bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations to ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Compliance: Ensure the company remains compliant with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the finance department and implement efficient workflows.
- Team Support: Mentor junior accounting staff and assist with external audits as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; Master’s degree or CPA certification is a strong plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably within a corporate or public accounting firm setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage; advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) are essential.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure high levels of accuracy in all financial documentation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) is highly desirable.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, urgent environment.
