Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including month-end closing, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes and ensure timely payment cycles
- Collaborate with auditors during external financial examinations and compliance reviews
- Develop and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial risks
- Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis for departmental initiatives
- Lead special projects related to process improvement and financial system implementations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public/private sectors
- Expert proficiency in QuickBooks, SAP, and advanced Excel functions
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal tax regulations and DC compliance requirements
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with financial reporting tools like Tableau or Power BI
- Excellent communication abilities for cross-departmental collaboration
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments
