We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team in Richmond, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely distribution of employee compensation. You will also collaborate closely with the HR and accounting departments to maintain accurate payroll records and support employee inquiries.

Responsibilities
- Execute bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring 100% accuracy in gross pay, deductions, and net pay.
- Maintain strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including FLSA, FICA, and Virginia state tax regulations.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual federal and state payroll tax returns and tax reconciliations.
- Assist employees with payroll-related questions, changes, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Process garnishments, direct deposit changes, and tax form updates (W-2s, W-4s) as required.
- Perform month-end and year-end payroll close procedures and assist with internal and external payroll audits.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in payroll processing or a related accounting role.
- Proficiency with payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or Ceridian) and HRIS systems is required.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) is highly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff and management.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is a plus.
