Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Accurately calculate and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring all hours worked are accounted for correctly.
- Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and file all necessary federal, state, and local payroll tax reports (e.g., 941, W-2s) on a timely basis.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate payroll records, including tax forms, garnishments, and deductions, while ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive employee data.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from staff, resolving discrepancies and answering questions regarding pay stubs.
- System Management: Utilize payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) to manage employee files, update tax forms, and process terminations.
- Process Improvement: Assist in auditing payroll processes to identify errors and implement improvements for greater efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing, accounting, or a similar financial role.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in payroll processing software (ADP, Paychex, Workday) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and FLSA compliance.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors in data entry and a commitment to 100% accuracy in financial reporting.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex payroll information clearly to non-financial staff.
