Responsibilities
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for over 500 employees using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accurate calculations for gross pay, taxes, and deductions.
- Review and verify timekeeping data, resolve discrepancies, and address employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax forms, and direct deposits.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, including quarterly and annual W-2s, 1099s, and state tax filings.
- Maintain strict compliance with FLSA regulations, state labor laws, and internal payroll policies to minimize risk.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end audit files and collaborate with external auditors during the annual review process.
- Manage garnishments, child support orders, and other deductions accurately according to legal guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
- 1-3 years of direct experience in payroll processing or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, or Ceridian) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is a must).
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws, including FICA, FUTA, SUTA, and withholding requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in complex data sets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to non-finance staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
