Responsibilities
- Process Payroll: Accurately calculate and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees using ADP or QuickBooks.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all payroll data is accurate, including hours worked, overtime, and deductions, while maintaining strict compliance with federal and state tax laws.
- Reporting: Prepare and file required federal, state, and local payroll tax reports (W-2s, 940, 941) and handle year-end tax form distribution.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax forms, and payroll deductions.
- Data Integrity: Maintain confidential employee payroll records and files, ensuring data accuracy through regular audits and reconciliation.
- System Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of payroll software and troubleshoot any system discrepancies.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes in labor laws and payroll compliance regulations to mitigate risk.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing or a similar financial administrative role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax laws, payroll tax forms, and compliance requirements.
- Attributes: Excellent mathematical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll concepts to non-financial staff.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workflow effectively in a high-volume environment.
