Responsibilities
- Core Accounting: Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and credit card statements to ensure all records match financial reports.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
- Payroll Support: Assist with processing payroll for a small team of employees, ensuring compliance with California labor laws and tax regulations.
- Software Management: Utilize accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage) to manage transactions, generate invoices, and track expenses.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings, including 1099s and W-2s.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all financial documents.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, Xero, or similar cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Education: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred; High School Diploma required.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and California tax codes.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
