Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate digital ledgers using Xero and QuickBooks software
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and variance analysis
- Manage accounts payable/receivable cycles and cash flow monitoring
- Prepare management accounts and VAT returns compliant with HMRC regulations
- Process payroll and maintain employee expense records
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and audit documentation
- Implement internal controls to prevent financial discrepancies
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' UK bookkeeping experience with SMEs
- AAT Level 3/4 certification or equivalent qualification
- Advanced proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, and MS Excel
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP and HMRC compliance
- Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail with numerical accuracy
- Relevant industry experience (e.g., retail, professional services) preferred
