Responsibilities
- Manage General Ledger: Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Payroll Support: Process and verify payroll data for part-time staff, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Tax Preparation: Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings and maintain tax documentation.
- Process Improvement: Recommend process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and increase efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a part-time or freelance capacity.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero is essential; experience with Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) is required.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to analyze data and spot errors with a high degree of accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with non-financial staff.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and local tax laws.
