Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including sales and purchase ledgers and reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory financial statements.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Process payroll for small business clients on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support to the management team.
- Maintain accurate filing systems and documentation in compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Relevant accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or significant relevant experience.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and VAT returns.
- Strong working knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or Microsoft Dynamics).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and colleagues.
