Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and monthly review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices, verify vendor data, and manage accounts payable workflows; assist in collections and accounts receivable follow-ups.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Post journal entries, reconcile inter-company accounts, and assist in the closing process for monthly and annual cycles.
- Compliance & Auditing: Support internal and external audit requests by providing organized documentation and data analysis.
- Expense Management: Review expense reports for compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in accounting or finance; internship experience in a corporate or public accounting firm is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) or ERP systems.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
- Location: Must be willing to work on-site in Washington, DC or within the commuting area.
