Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure all accounts are balanced and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- AP/AR Management: Process accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices, verify vendor statements, and collect outstanding payments.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports for management review.
- Payroll Support: Process weekly or bi-weekly payroll for small to medium-sized business clients using our payroll software.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with federal, state, and local tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize cloud-based accounting software to streamline workflows and manage client data securely.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small business or accounting firm setting.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero is required. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) is essential.
- Education: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred; high school diploma with relevant certification (e.g., NACPB, AAIA) considered.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot errors and discrepancies in financial data.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex financial concepts to clients.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
