Responsibilities
- Analyze Financial Data: Review and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow projections to assess borrower creditworthiness.
- Underwriting Support: Draft comprehensive credit memos and prepare loan packages for approval by senior management.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks in loan requests and recommend terms and conditions to mitigate exposure.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Continuously monitor existing client accounts for signs of financial distress or covenant breaches.
- Compliance: Ensure all lending activities adhere to internal policies and federal banking regulations (e.g., CRA, Fair Lending).
- Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends and economic indicators that may impact the local market.
- Collaboration: Work closely with relationship managers and loan officers to provide analytical support throughout the loan lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or commercial banking.
- Skills: Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Tools: Experience with loan origination systems (LOS) such as Calyx, Encompass, or similar software.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to analyze complex financial data and draw actionable conclusions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and reporting.
