Responsibilities
- Accurately post patient payments, insurance remittances, and adjustments to patient accounts.
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Generate and mail out monthly statements to delinquent accounts to ensure timely collection.
- Research and resolve denied or rejected claims with insurance payers and patients.
- Reconcile daily bank deposits and credit card transactions with the financial ledger.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date billing records within our EMR system.
- Assist in month-end closing processes and financial reporting as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in medical or dental billing.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, or equivalent).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient interaction.
