Responsibilities
- Claims Management: Review and submit medical claims to insurance carriers with a high degree of accuracy to minimize denials and maximize reimbursement.
- Accounts Receivable: Perform daily account reconciliation and proactively follow up on outstanding accounts receivable (AR) to ensure timely collections.
- Patient Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery to prevent billing errors.
- Data Entry & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records in our EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Reporting: Generate and analyze monthly billing reports to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and provide insights to management.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex billing issues and denials, communicating effectively with patients and clearinghouses.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, healthcare revenue cycle, or insurance claims processing.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Coding Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to detect errors in complex data sets and a commitment to data integrity.
- Education: Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance providers.
