Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing: Accurately generate and process patient invoices and statements in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Claim Management: Review and verify claims for accuracy before submission to insurance payers to minimize denials and rejections.
- Accounts Receivable: Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collection.
- Insurance Verification: Assist in verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery.
- Denial Management: Analyze denied claims to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future denials.
- Data Entry: Maintain precise records in billing software (Epic, Cerner, or similar) and general ledgers.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly billing reports to management and clients as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and billing software is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
- Software: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups) and experience with ERP systems.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
