Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Prepare and submit accurate medical claims (HCPCS, ICD-10, CPT) to insurance payers electronically.
- Monitor claim status and follow up on denied or unpaid claims to ensure prompt resolution.
- Manage patient billing inquiries, provide accurate statements, and facilitate payment arrangements.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and prepare detailed monthly billing reports.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and company billing policies.
- Collaborate with the collections team to improve overall revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, claims processing, or revenue cycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards.
- Proficiency with billing software (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and internal teams.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
