Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end system architecture design for the 2026 Mars Lander and return vehicle.
- Integrate advanced AI and machine learning algorithms into flight control systems for autonomous navigation.
- Collaborate with propulsion engineers to optimize life support and power management systems for deep-space duration.
- Conduct rigorous failure-mode analysis and risk mitigation strategies for critical mission components.
- Mentor junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Define technical standards and protocols for interplanetary communication and data transmission.
Qualifications
- Masterβs or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in system architecture, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or high-reliability software sectors.
- Proven track record of managing complex technical projects from concept through to deployment.
- Expert knowledge of C++, Python, and simulation software (e.g., STK, MATLAB, or Ansys).
- Experience with spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make high-stakes decisions under pressure.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
