Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be the guardian of our payroll data. Your duties will include:
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll cycle for over 200 employees, ensuring accuracy and timely processing bi-weekly.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including FLSA and Minnesota-specific tax regulations.
- Prepare and file all necessary payroll tax returns, including 941s, state quarterly reports, and year-end W-2s.
- Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts, bank statements, and third-party payroll reports to identify discrepancies.
- Collaborate closely with the HR department to implement compensation changes, bonuses, deductions, and benefits updates.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, garnishments, and employee inquiries with a focus on customer service.
- Analyze payroll data to provide insights to management and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive experience in payroll administration or a related financial role.
- Advanced proficiency in payroll software (ADP Workforce Now, Paychex, or Ceridian Dayforce preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee information with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Professional certification (CPP or FPC) is a strong plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and auditors.
