Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and reconcile bank statements monthly
- Process accounts payable/receivable and manage cash flow reporting
- Prepare financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses
- Oversee payroll processing and tax compliance for DC-based clients
- Implement and optimize accounting software systems (QuickBooks Online)
- Conduct internal audits and ensure GAAP compliance
- Collaborate with CFO on budget forecasting and variance analysis
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience in public/private sectors
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software
- Deep understanding of DC tax regulations and nonprofit accounting
- Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or QuickBooks ProAdvisor preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication abilities for client interactions
